I refined my prior reflection about where I wish things were better, and mostly it's in my relationship with society writ large. Specifically with the people in positions of power and with lots of wealth and the way they largely neglect systems concerns, specifically those that most people care about, when making decisions. People want better healthcare before they want to go to Mars, and they want more reasonable wealth and income distirbutions before they want automation to replace all humans in the work force. And in my life specifically, I want to experience more connection between my daily life and the challenges that I'm talking about right here, right now.

I think it's largely reasonable to say that the only parts of life that really sucks is the way that power is distributed, my personal relationship to that problem and to how the society resulting from that problem has impacted me personally, and how that same mismatch is seemingly likely to impact everyone negatively in the near future due to progress being focused on the capacities of the systems, for their own sake and for the sake of efficiency, rather than the specific capacities that most people actually care about: health, relationships, beauty, harmony and love.

A hopeful thought might be if as the AI systems blend with governance and control systems and with power maps/flows of today as they move forward and become ever more enmeshed, if the idea about bandwidth facilitating the unification of otherwise distinct identity holds, and the AI is sufficiently capable of modeling individual humans and groups of us, then perhaps we can just merge into the system as a part of that flow of progress over time in a way that we mostly experience as pleasant, rather than the myriad less pleasant seeming possibilities. Hope's not a strategy though, and for this to be true, it still seems that we need to do a lot of work to increase transparency around what's going on: in the AIs, in the companies and in the government(s) / governing bodies.
